We've been racing motocross for 50 years. The highs, the lows and everything in between, we have had it all and owned every moment. Winning at the weekend is what drives us. And winning is what's created the new CRF450R and, for 2023 only, the CRF450R 50th Anniversary.
So you can drive harder than ever, the engine is armed with narrower intake ports, a longer air funnel and smaller, 44mm diameter throttle body delivering higher-velocity air flow to create more torque and low-down power. New ECU settings and valve timing (straight from Tim Gajser's #243 HRC machine) create a usable powerplant with Launch Control, HSTC and EMSB to put it completely at your command.
We never, ever stop pushing. That's what it takes to fight at the front and the CRF450R is now easier to ride faster, for longer. Its lightweight aluminium frame features a new, factory-rider specification rigidity balance – from 2mm thicker front frame joints and upper shock mount – as well as new steel engine hangers producing a stable chassis that finds amazing front-end grip, yet steers razor-fast.
HRC riders – Gajser and Roczen – have led the suspension updates to produce faster lap times with less effort. Working with the new frame 'tune' the rear spring rate is higher at 56N/mm, with increased rebound/compression damping for incredible control over bumps and ruts. The 49mm USD forks also have new damping settings for optimum front/rear balance.
Minimal bodywork is easy to move around and remove. The CRF450R uses top-draw equipment; Renthal Fatbars offer comfort and four-way adjustment. The 6.3L fuel tank is made from titanium. Aluminium DID rims are light and strong, while a 30/27mm diameter two-piston front brake caliper ensures consistent stopping power at racing temperatures.
